CEF Digital, a sub-programme of Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), offers grant opportunities for organisations that can improve Europe’s digital infrastructure with their innovations. These are projects in areas such as cloud services, expanding and improving the 5G network or other activities that can contribute to a stronger digital Europe. CEF Digital’s second work programme 2024-2027 has a budget of € 865 million.
For whom is CEF Digital?
All organisations based in an EU Member State can apply for funding. This also includes organisations from overseas countries or territories belonging to an EU Member State.
CEF Digital projects
You can submit an application either individually or with partners. It is important that your innovation is in line with one of the following themes:
- 5G for Smart Communities
- 5G Coverage along Transport Corridors
- Backbone networks for Pan-European Cloud Federation
- Backbone connectivity for Digital Global Gateways
- Coordination and Support Actions
CEF Digital call 2026
The next call has not yet been announced, but the new work programme 2024-2027 has a budget of € 865 million.
New focus areas
The second CEF Digital work programme (2024-2027) has multiple new focus areas.
- Deployment of 5G infrastructures in Europe
- Deployment and significant upgrade of backbone networks
- Deployment of operational digital platforms for transport or energy infrastructures
Due to the need to improve Europe’s connectivity infrastructure, the scheme has announced the new focus areas. These new focal points are needed to meet the Digital Decade targets by 2030.
