Do you want to invest in quick and efficient development and implementation of defence technologies? You may be eligible for the new AGILE programme (Agile and Rapid Defence Innovation). This programme, for companies in the EU, is expected to launch in early 2027 to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities.
Who can apply for AGILE funding?
Innovative companies from the EU, the EEA (European Economic Area), EFTA (European Free Trade Association) and Ukraine can use the AGILE programme to accelerate the development or implementation of defence technologies. The programme particularly focuses on SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups.
Which activities fall under the AGILE programme?
The programme focuses on both the development and implementation of ‘New Defence’, such as AI, quantum technology and drones. The goal is to bring smart technologies to market within one to three years.
What sets the AGILE programme apart from other defence programmes is its strong emphasis on speed and collaboration. This enables projects to be approved and launched within as little as four months.
Additional opportunities
The programme also offers additional incentives to encourage companies to expand their activities. For example, it is possible to test new technologies in practice through experimental applications and innovative forms of collaboration.
Budget and funding
It is expected that € 115 million will be made available in 2027 for the development and implementation of new defence technologies. Per project, you can apply for funding ranging from € 1 million to € 5 million.
