Over € 140 million awarded under EIC Pathfinder in 2025

In 2025, the European Commission awarded over € 140 million to advanced research projects through the EIC Pathfinder programme. This initiative contributes to opening up new markets by supporting groundbreaking research aimed at developing frontier technologies and innovations. Interest in the 2025 EIC Pathfinder call was remarkably high, with a record number of proposals submitted.

Record number of applications in 2025

Never before have so many EIC Pathfinder applications been submitted as in the 2025 call. A total of 2,087 proposals were received from 71 different countries. Following evaluation, funding was awarded to just 44 projects, which is 2.1% of all applications.
The selected projects are consortia composed of universities, private companies, and research organisations. Together, they are working on groundbreaking ideas in fields such as quantum technology, advanced materials, health, energy, and artificial intelligence.

Examples of selected projects

One of the selected projects focuses on neurological disorders, a pressing health challenge nowadays. The consortium is developing a safe, integrated, and explainable AI ecosystem for stroke care by learning from diverse patient data. Another project is pioneering a new manufacturing method that integrates optical fibre sensors directly into metal structures, using 3D printing and spray techniques.

More than just financial support

The 44 selected projects not only receive financial support but also benefit from tailored coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities through the EIC Business Acceleration Services. This allows participants to translate their scientific vision into tangible innovation and impact.
