€ 677 million awarded to early-career scientists with ERC Starting Grant
The European Research Grant (ERC) Starting Grant has awarded € 677 million to 436 early-career scientists! Each grant per scientist can go up to € 2,5 million. With this financial contribution the innovative scientists will tackle big questions such as: how can the efficacy of vaccines be improved or what is the nature of dark matter in the Universe? Complex questions with complex answers these scientists are ready to discover!
Groundbreaking research with ERC Starting Grant
The ERC Starting Grant offers early-career scientists and scholars the opportunity to build their own team and carry out their own research across all disciplines. It’s a great incentive for young scientists to use and further develop their talents and curiosity.
The awarded scientists originate from all over the world, representing 40 different nationalities. The 436 scientists will be based in 25 countries across Europe of which 42 scientists will cary out their revolutionary research in the Netherlands! It is expected that the ERC Starting Grants will create an estimated 2500 jobs for postdoctoral fellows, PhD students and other staff at the host institutions.
