New ERC Advanced Grant 2026 call open for applications
As of today, 28 May 2026, the new ERC Advanced Grant 2026 call from the European Research Council (ERC) is officially open for applications. Through this funding scheme, the European Union supports outstanding researchers conducting pioneering and ground-breaking research. The ERC Advanced Grant is aimed at established research leaders with a proven track record of significant research achievements. The grant enables researchers to further develop ambitious and innovative research projects with the potential to create international impact.
Up to €2.5 million funding for leading researchers
Through an ERC Advanced Grant, researchers can generally receive up to € 2.5 million in funding for a period of five years. In specific cases, additional funding may be awarded, for example, for major equipment costs or relocation expenses. A total budget of € 746.7 million has been allocated to this call. It is expected that approximately 324 research projects will be funded.
ERC Advanced Grant 2026 deadline
Applications can be submitted until 27 August 2026. The ERC is widely recognised for its highly competitive nature and rigorous quality standards. A strong scientific track record and an exceptionally well-developed research proposal are therefore essential for a successful application.
