€ 204 million budget available for new Digital Europe calls

The European Commission has published a total of nine new Digital Europe calls to stimulate the launch of digital innovation projects and strengthen technologies across Europe. Across these calls, a total budget of € 204 million has been made available.

Digital Europe focus areas

The new Digital Europe calls aim to encourage the adoption and implementation of innovative digital technologies. The focus lies on the optimal use of AI and Big Data, the completion of the European Digital Innovation Hub network, the rollout of the EU Digital Identity Wallet, innovation within the automotive sector, the promotion of digital skills, and the introduction of digital solutions for the public sector.

First Digital Europe call already open for applications

Alongside the publication on 9 October 2025, the first call ‘European Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences  has already opened for applications. A budget of € 15 million is available for this call, with applications accepted until 9 December 2025.

Remaining Digital Europe calls

The remaining eight Digital Europe calls will be open for applications between 4 November 2025 and 3 March 2026. Budgets will be made available under the following themes:

  • € 79.2 million for consolidation and € 8 million for the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs to support European companies in digitalising their activities;
  • € 22.5 million for biomedical research and the rollout of personalised healthcare, plus € 14.4 million for the implementation of AI-based solutions in medical imaging;
  • € 9 million for industrial data sharing;
  • € 4.5 million for innovation within the European automotive sector;
  • € 6 million for the hubs of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO).
