New ERC Advanced Grant 2025 call opened for application
A new call for the ERC Advanced Grant opened on 22 May 2025. Through the ERC grant programme, researchers are encouraged to initiate and carry out pioneering scientific research. The ERC Advanced Grant specifically targets researchers with significant research achievements with several years of experience. Applications for ERC Advanced Grant can be submitted until 28 August 2025.
ERC Advanced Grant in 2025
Researchers who have achieved significant scientific results over the past 10 years are eligible to apply for the ERC Advanced Grant in 2025. If you are an established researcher focusing on groundbreaking and high-risk research projects, you may be eligible for up to € 2.5 million in funding for your project, over a period of 5 years. For this call, open until 28 August 2025, a total budget of € 682.5 million has been made available. It is expected that approximately 276 grants will be awarded.
Various ERC Funding Opportunities
In addition to the ERC Advanced Grant, the ERC programme offers several other funding schemes. Each scheme targets a specific group of researchers to ensure that there are opportunities for every career stage:
- ERC Starting Grant – for researchers with 2 to 7 years of research experience
- ERC Consolidator Grant – for researchers with 7 to 12 years of research experience
- ERC Advanced Grant – for researchers with 10 years of significant research achievements
- ERC Proof of Concept – for researchers who have previously received an ERC grant for pioneering research
- ERC Synergy Grant – for groups of 2 to 4 principal investigators working together to tackle ambitious research challenges
